The journey of a violinist / sports reporter.
It’s an age-old quesiton people face: sports or music. Few people blur this boundary, daring to merge the two fields. Here, Jan Peřuška is one of of those few trailblazers, following the career of a sports journalist whilst being one of the most accomlpished violinists in Prague.
Jan began playing the violin after his parents, his father a very accomplished musician himself, encouraged him to follow their passions. “I was five and my younger brother was four years old,” he says, showing us family photographs. When asked how he sees himself, a musician or a sports reporter first, he replies “I like both ways, and by fortune I can do both things! I can’t imagine my life without music or sport.”
Jan, eyes closed, feeling the music. “I feel like I am a normal guy who likes sport, people and music.”

Jan met the love of his love at a concert where they were both playing. They both regularly travel around the world for work, her as part of an orchestra and Jan as a reporter.

The path to becoming a sports journalist was a tricky one. Jan commented it wasn’t clear if he’d make it into the world of TV journalism.
