Photostory: A night behind the scenes at Czech TV
The Media Industry group went backstage at “Czech TV”, the country’s public broadcast service. Czech Television was established based on the Czech Television Act in 1992. Today, the public owned group is a compound of six different channels ranging from general news or family-oriented programs to documentaries and sports. It was nearly 9 pm when we discovered the grand building located in Prague 4 where journalists, producers, editors and many others have been working since the 1970’s. We had the chance to follow the host of the (late) evening sports news bulletin, Stanislav Bartůšek. Here is an insight of some of the work behind each broadcast.
First things first, profound research is essential for every reporter.
Meanwhile, the make-up artist is at work: powder helps to prevent unwanted shine.
Inside the dressing room: each host has his/her own wadrobe. They can choose from a wide variety of clothes.
Getting wired so watchers can hear you but also to communicate with the control room.
Shortly before the start: the camera is ready…

ON AIR: the tv broadcast is now live.
Producers, sound engineers, editors… they all follow the broadcast on various screens in the control room.
The sports evening bulletin lasts for 15 minutes.
Finally done! Time to go home and prepare for the next news broadcast.
