Commemorating 1968

50 years ago the Prague Spring of 1968 was brought to an end. A period of liberalization under Alexander Dubček, it was forced to a halt by the Soviet invasion of Warsaw Pact troops. Czechoslovakia then entered into a period of “normalization” until communism was brought to an end in 1989.

An important event in the history of the Czech Republic, it is celebrated with museum exhibitions and commemorations, but how much do people actually know?
